From One Flooring Board to Full-Space Material Solutions

We started with flooring. We ended up solving build cost.

Our founder, Yu Yiding, entered the flooring industry in 2010. He spent the next six years where the problems actually are — on the factory floor and on site, watching how materials get made, and how they fail once they're installed.

In 2016 we founded Jiangsu GOBO Decorative Materials. Moving from trading materials to manufacturing them came from one observation: what clients lack is rarely a product. It's a solution that delivers the look, the schedule and the budget at the same time.

In 2021 we opened GOBO DECO in Shenzhen — a marketing and design-application centre serving South China, and closer to the designers we work with. Their drawings now reach us early enough to be developed, not just quoted.

Today GOBO runs three plants — Changzhou, Foshan and Huizhou — with 38,000 m² of floor space, 3.5 million m² of annual capacity, and 52 people, three of them dedicated to design development. Over 10,000 retail units delivered to date.

We work differently. We don't cut your cost by trimming the spec — we re-engineer it around your project. For the rollout programme of a leading listed furniture group, that approach saved RMB 400,000 in the first year and kept saving for three years running. Their procurement team received a group-level award for it. Now we're bringing that experience to commercial projects beyond China.

Safer and more comfortable spaces

We pursue the material and spiritual well-being of everyone at GOBO. We don't localise that sentence — it's the same wording Kyocera uses, and buyers who recognise it know what kind of company they're dealing with. What it means for you is concrete: every commercial space that uses our materials should be safer and more comfortable. Safer — wall panels rated B₁ for fire, formaldehyde below China's strictest grade. More comfortable — 19 dB quieter underfoot, walls that stay clean through humid seasons. Thousands of people pass through these spaces every day. They never look at the wall or the floor. But they feel it: quiet, clean, no smell. Making the hours they spend there a little better is what we mean by a better world.

GOBO's vision is to be the reference name for surface materials in commercial display and retail spaces in China. We don't put that on a banner — "reference" is not something you award yourself. It depends on how many specifiers and clients think of us when the next project comes up. What we can promise instead: we make decisions like a company that plans to be here in a hundred years. The materials we ship you today are materials we'll still stand behind in ten.
