PVC wall panels are made from PVC resin, calcium powder and additives, foamed and extruded at high temperature, with surfaces laminated in PET high-gloss film, PP scratch-resistant film or water-based PVC film.
The potential pollutants are excessive plasticizers, heavy metals and T-VOC — panels generally contain no formaldehyde. Plasticizers mainly originate from substrate processing; heavy metals mainly from possible use of recycled PVC; T-VOC mainly from the decorative surface film.
As long as qualified materials are used at every stage, PVC wall panels are safe. Still, choose quality-assured products — especially for bedrooms, which are usually closed spaces at night, so any pollutant would be released continuously.
